Friday Classes for Youth 5-14

Classes meet at Central School Project, 43 Howell Ave, Old Bisbee

 

1hr class = $30 for 9 weeks / $5 drop-in  •  2hr class = $60 for 9 weeks / $10 drop-in

Ages 5-8

Yoga​​​​​​​​​​ » 9am-10am • $30 FULL

Join me in this all ages class as we move our bodies into interesting yoga poses (that feel good!), learn energizing and calming breathing exercises, and experience different elements of yoga in a fun and educational way! Yoga-inspired games, stories, art, and aromatherapy will be incorporated into these classes.

Cooking​​​​​​​​​​ » 10am-11am • $30

Gain confidence learning basic cooking skills and have fun preparing a number of tasty, nutritious dishes that you will then be able to show your parents to make at home! INSTRUCTOR:  Renata González

 

Little Quilts » 11am-12pm • $30

We’ll be designing & creating a quilt together, combining basic sewing skills with a creative approach to quilt-making using your own original drawings. This is a community service project: the finished quilt will then be donated to a child in need. INSTRUCTOR:  Stephanie Wan

 

12-1pm Lunch Break at City Park (Please bring your own lunch)
LEAP supervision provided only for enrolled students.

 

Mallet Madness (Music Class) » 1pm-2pm • $30

Fun & varied activities playing mallet instruments (e.g. xylophones). Songs, poems & children’s literature will be incorporated also. INSTRUCTOR: Melanie Germond

 

Story Writing » 2pm-3pm • $30

Write & illustrate your stories, and put your amazing imagination down on paper! At the end of the session, you will have created your own hand-made book of your stories and illustrations. INSTRUCTOR: Danitza Hill

 

 

Ages 8-14

Happy Yoga!​​​​​​​​​​ » 9am-10am • $30 FULL

West African Drum & Dance​​​​​​​​​​ (ages 9-14) » 10am-11am • $30 (**Note: Class meets at St. John's Episcopal Church, 19 Sowles Ave)

A hands-on introduction to the drumming, singing, and dancing of West Africa. No previous experience necessary. Drums will be provided but if you have your own djembe, please bring it! INSTRUCTOR:  Craig Bowie

 

Quilts for Kids​​​​​​​​​​ » 11am-12pm • $30

A community service project to design and make personalized children’s quilts to donate to the Bisbee Police Department to comfort young people who, through no fault of their own, end up in a police cruiser. (The child who is given the quilt will then be able to keep it.) Please note: students may be using sharp cutting tools & hot irons. INSTRUCTOR: Gretchen Graef

Expressive Poetry » 1pm-2pm • $30

Create a poetry journal with your own poems and illustrations. Learn about the many different styles of poetry, and how to use creative words to describe your expressive thoughts. INSTRUCTOR: Danitza Hill

 

Creative Orchestra » 2pm-3pm • $30

Discover the magic of playing music together on a variety of instruments (supplied instruments include xylophones, harp, keyboard, light percussion) – or bring your own! For all skill levels, no previous musical experience necessary. INSTRUCTOR: Lori Keyne

 

Creative Dance » 3pm-5pm • $60

A choreography-based class with an emphasis on creating and performing; introduction to technique through exercises and improvisation; all levels. Students will create & perform a piece for the MAKE Youth Arts Festival. INSTRUCTOR: Alison Williams

 

Cooking Workshop (ages 9-14) » 5pm-7pm • $60

Create (& eat!) delicious, balanced meals from several different countries & cultures. You will also discover how to improvise your own dishes and have fun cooking! By the end of the course, you will know how to read recipes and cook several balanced and delicious meals.
